My sister had Leukaemia, and she was in pain throughout.

When she suffered from the symptoms she would have bruising, collapse, couldn’t sleep… but be constantly tired… and couldn’t concentrate.

Throughout treatment she lost all her hair, the steroids ate away her muscle and body fat so moving too much was impossible and would cause loads of pain, and the actual injections -’peg in the leg’, the one in her wrists, the ones at the bottom of her spine (the worst apparently) and the tube leading into her heart were sometimes unbearable.

Some of the treatment would give her sores on her mouth which wouldn’t heal… she caught all sorts of viruses because her immune systeme was killed off… and the treatment caused much more violent reactions to bumops and falls (bleed more, bruise more etc)

Also the emotional impoact was terrible… she asked to die several times, would get stared at as she was wheeled through town (she wasn’t able to walk much at all… from bedroom to bathroom was often too much), and lost many of her friends… who would go out and do things without her.

On the otherhand… she made friends with some other cancer patients in the hospital and became so close to them… She met some wonderful people who worked with charities and were heroes the way they helped children like her. And she grew more wise to the world and grew stronger through the experience.

Hope that helps. :) And I hope whoever has it will get well soon…

My daughter was diagnosed with Leukemia at 2 and a half. She complained of sore legs and back. It was mostly when she would be running around but there were times when she would say her legs hurt while she was doing nothing. If you are worried about a child, they should see a doctor. Pain was the only symptom my little girl had. She has almost finished her treatment and is doing well now.
